Electric vehicle sales in India saw a significant 28.6% year-on-year increase in June 2025, reaching 1,80,238 units. Electric passenger vehicles led this growth with an almost 80% jump, while electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers also saw strong retail sales.

India's new EV policy, launched in March 2024 (with updates in 2025), aims to attract global EV manufacturers by offering reduced import duties (15% on up to 8,000 units annually) provided they invest a minimum of ?4,150 crore in local manufacturing within three years and achieve 25% domestic value addition within three years, rising to 50% in five years.
