In order to make India's EV plans more actionable and promote e-mobility in the nation, President Droupadi Murmu unveiled the EV Yatra Portal and Mobile application on National Energy Conservation Day. The Bureau of Energy Efficiency was present at the launch in Delhi (BEE).

A robust public charging infrastructure will only support the government's ongoing push for EV adoption. The country has about 5,151 operational public charging stations for EVs, according to a recent statement from Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). On the other hand, there is currently 18 lakh registered electric vehicles on the road. Karnataka has about 698 EV charging stations, 660 in Maharashtra, and 539 in Delhi. Some of India's largest EV markets are in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Maharashtra.

Information about the EV Yatra Mobile Application

The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) created a mobile app to make it easier for drivers to navigate to public EV chargers while driving. In addition, a website is available to provide details on various national and state-level initiatives to support e-mobility.

Using the EV-Yatra app, users can also reserve a charging slot. It can be downloaded from the Apple Store and Google Play Store and is compatible with the majority of smartphones. Currently, the app is only available in Hindi and English.

Additionally, BEE has created a web portal that enables operators of charging points (CPOs) to securely register their charging information. We could also see different award ceremonies that happened concurrently with this event. Here are some updates on the occasion:

Awards to state-level corporations

1.      The National Energy Conservation Awards' first place went to Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Ltd.

2.      The Andhra Pradesh state energy conservation mission was recognized in the second group.

3.      In group three, the O/o chief electrical inspector-cum-adviser for the Government of Assam backed the position.

Awards to Appliances

1.      The first place received support from Daikin Air Conditioning.

2.      For their Renesa 1200 model number, Atomberg supported a different viewpoint.

3.      Haier India supported the HRD-1955 model for the refrigerator category.

Although there is an endless list of awards, we can see that major corporations are working together to make India sustainable.

President Murmu, the nominal leader, addressed the country and declared that it was everyone's top priority to make sure that future generations could breathe clean air, make good progress, and live healthy lives. Air purification is a fundamental human right. Many human rights can be safeguarded by protecting the environment.

Going forward, she stated that "India, as a responsible country, is significantly contributing to environment protection even though it's per capita carbon emission and greenhouse emission are less than one-third of the global average."

As they continued to hold the G20 summit presidency, all these changes could be seen. In relation to the G20 summit, the President added, "India has adopted One earth, One family, One Future during the presidency, in accordance with the ideal of 'Vasudhiva Kutambakam,' and we are all disseminating it on the global stage."

The central government has also implemented production-linked incentive (PLI) schemes for producing EVs, their components, and battery cells in addition to developing the EV charging infrastructure. In an effort to encourage greater EV adoption in the nation, safety standards have also been updated in accordance with international standards.

With only a few hiccups, EV sales have increased over the past few years, with figures largely remaining fairly constant month to month. Two-wheeler EV registrations decreased by 1% month-over-month (MoM) in November from 76,953 units in October to 76,163 units.

As they set out to learn more about electric vehicles and help India become a global leader in sustainability, many electric vehicle companies cited the event as a turning point.
