Tata Motors is India's leading manufacturer of electric
vehicles. At the Auto Expo 2023, Tata Motors unveiled the EV concepts.
Tata will soon launch the Harrier EV, which the company has confirmed will be
available in 2024.
In terms of the Harrier EV, the significant proportion
of the sheet metal remains the same as the Harrier diesel. The front fascia has
undergone a change. Since it doesn't require much air intake, the standard
grille has been replaced with a closed one. The horizontal slats in this new
closed grille form an intriguing pattern.
The Harrier EV has undergone significant changes compared to
its ICE counterpart and is based on Tata's Gen 2 EV architecture.
It gains a new bumper, skid plate, grille, triangular headlamp cluster, and new
front-end design. A bottom grille used for air circulation and cooling
batteries is formed by numerous vertical slats beneath it. A new bumper with a
skid plate, new LED taillamps, Harrier EV lettering, and an LED light bar
running across the boot lid frame of the rear profile. On two-tone alloy wheels,
the electric SUV is positioned.
In aspects of alloy wheel designs, Tata appears to have taken
a lot of cues from Hyundai. The alloy wheels on the Harrier EV look very
similar to those on the Hyundai Alcazar. The bottom of the front doors bears a
subtle EV badge. At the rear, LED elements inside the taillight have been
updated and are now linked by a wide LED bar.
There will be some new additions on the inside. The main
difference is a larger 10.25" touchscreen system. This screen will
most likely replace the current Altroz and Nexon's aging 7" display with
an uninspiring user interface. A fully digital instrument cluster, dual-tone
upholstery, and a redesigned center console are all standard features. The Tata
Harrier EV will also have dual-tone upholstery.
For safety, the Tata Harrier EV is expected to include
ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) and a 360-degree camera.
Harrier EV will use Gen II EV architecture, which is a
generation higher than Gen I, which is currently used in Nexon EV. The battery
pack is expected to be in the 60-80 kWh range, with a range of about 500
km on a full charge. Ex-showroom, the Tata Harrier electric price could start
around Rs 30 to 35 lakh.
