Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4Matic luxury electric car launched at Rs 1.55 crore, gets India's best 857 km range. The Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4MATIC was introduced in India for Rs. 1.55 crore. The company's plant in Chakan, Pune, produces the luxury EV from the German manufacturer, which is also the first luxury electric sedan ever constructed in India. Bookings for the high-end EV started earlier with a deposit of Rs 25 lakh. The electric vehicle is the first "Certified locally built luxury EV" in India and has the longest range of any EV. The assertion is supported by the high-end EV's 857km ARAI-certified range, which is the longest in India.

Mercedes-Benz has reaffirmed its commitment to providing Indian clients with the most appealing, technologically cutting-edge, futuristic items from its worldwide range with the launch of the premium EV in India. The introduction of the EQS 580 4MATIC also supports Mercedes-global Benz's aim to create a fleet of vehicles that is climate neutral within the next several years. Mercedes-Benz India's global skills in flexible production are highlighted by the local production of the EQS 580 4MATIC at its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, which now manufactures series, Maybach, AMG, and luxury EVs all under one roof.

"The EQS 580 4MATIC is our first domestically made EV in India and will play a crucial part in supporting our ambitious EV aspirations for the market," stated Martin Schwenk, Managing Director & CEO of Mercedes-Benz India. It is the ideal fusion of elegance, safety, and technology, introducing several cutting-edge innovations for our consumers. The fact that India is the first nation outside of Germany to produce the EQS 580 4MATIC supports Mercedes-Benz India's strong customer commitment and long-term ambition for the development of the luxury EV market here.

Mercedes-Benz EQS 580: Powertrain, Range and Charging

The Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 has a 107.8kWh lithium-ion battery pack, just like its EQS 53 counterpart. Two electric motors—one on each axle—receive power from it, producing a total of 523 horsepower and 855 Nm of torque. This results in a 238hp and 165Nm decrease over the EQS 53. The EQS 580 4Matic can sprint from 0 to 100 in just 4.3 seconds using all of its power, while the EV's top speed is restricted to 210kph. Regarding the battery, the EQS 580 has an ARAI-certified range of 857 kilometres on a single charge and is compatible with 200kW rapid charging.

Standard-setting in terms of performance, efficiency, and charging capacity is the new battery for the EQS 580. Our plant now has a Green charging environment with AC and DC chargers, raising the standard on sustainability aspirations. In terms of performance, efficiency, and charging capacity, the new battery for the EQS 580 4MATIC sets norms. Mercedes-Benz India has put in place a cutting-edge, secure, and effective battery assembly process that adheres to the principle of "First Time Right" production and quality assurance standards.

Motor: Powered by two electric motors with a combined output of 385 kW. All four axles can receive up to 516 horsepower and 855 Nm of torque from them. Permanent magnets are used in "permanently excited synchronous motors" (PSMs) to produce AC current with a high power density and efficiency.

Mercedes-Benz EQS 580: Design and Exterior

Compared to the EQS 53, the all-new Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 sports a more subdued look. It has a less assertive front bumper, a blanked-out grille with several lighted three-pointed stars, and smaller, five-spoke 20-inch wheels. The automaker offers two inside upholstery options and a total of five exterior color options for the EQS 580 4Matic.

Mercedes-Benz EQS 580: Interior, Features and Tech

This opulent EV comes equipped with a "Hyper Screen," which is essentially three screens connected by a single continuous glass panel running from pillar to pillar across the dashboard. Each front passenger and driver receive 12.3-inch screens. Users receive haptic stimulation from 12 actuators, and games are pre-installed on the Hyper Screen. It's interesting to note that the Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 also is equipped with 3D maps, a heads-up display, a message function, a Burnmester 3D sound system, air filtration, and an MBUX tablet similar to the S-Class for the passengers in the back seats.

The MBUX Hyperscreen is one of the EQS's unique features. For the first time, this spectacular digital panel—which includes the entire cockpit—is put together in the factory. At every stage of production, Mercedes-Benz India has pushed the envelope of innovation to implement high-performing assembly procedures. Without any distraction, this head-up display sends visual information into the driver's field of vision. Starting with the EQS 580 4MATIC, the plant's lab and advanced testing and calibration processes are set up for the first time.

Mercedes-Benz EQS 580: Safety

The EQS 580 has nine airbags, lane change and lane keep assist, and an emergency stop system. Euro NCAP also gave the vehicle a full five-star crash test rating. It also has rear-wheel steering, but only the first 500 customers will be able to get it. PRE-SAFE® is a requirement. The EQS's all-electric architecture also provided new design options for the system's safety approach. It implies, for instance, that a suitable site for the battery installation could be selected, such as a section of the underbody that is crash-protected.

The behaviour in a frontal crash might be predicted even better as there is no huge engine block on board. The Vehicle Safety Technology Centre (TFS), Sindelfingen performed extensive component tests in addition to the normal crash tests and evaluated the car's performance under numerous additional load conditions.
