At the 2020 India Auto Expo, the eXUV 400 was
displayed as a concept car. However, a model of the same vehicle that was
heavily camouflaged was seen undergoing testing in Chennai, which suggests that
its launch is imminent.
At a starting price of Rs 15.99 lakh,
ex-showroom, the new Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV was introduced in India in
2023. On January 26, reservations for the same will open, and deliveries will
start in March of this year.
The Tata Nexon EV and the MG ZS EV, two
competitors in the same market segment, will face off against the five-seater
EV. In the paragraphs that follow, we go over some of the specifics of the
upcoming eXUV 400 that we noticed in both the concept car and the covert
test module.
Three variants are available for the new Mahindra XUV400. Prices
range from Rs 15.99 lakh to Rs 18.99 lakh, ex-showroom. The fact
that these are introductory rates that are only good for the first 5,000
reservations should be noted. Mahindra XUV 400 Electric is also
available through a number of banks on an EMI with interest rates
ranging from 7.15% to 7.5%.

The eXUV 400's official feature list has yet to be finalized. However, some of the possible features include connected car technology, a sunroof, a rain-sensing wiper, dual-zone auto climate control, and so on.
The eXUV 400, like its petrol counterpart, will be extremely safe,
with features such as multiple airbags, cornering brake control, and an
Anti-Brake System with Electronic Brake Distribution.
The 2023 XUV400 EV measures 4200mm in length,
1821mm in width, and 1634mm in height. A car's road
presence is increased by larger exterior dimensions. The wheelbase length for the XUV400
EV is 2600 mm. While a shorter wheelbase makes a car more agile, a
longer wheelbase makes it more stable at high speeds and provides more room for
rear passengers.

The XUV400 is Mahindra's first electric vehicle with
the Copper twin peak logo. The eSUV will be available in two variants
- XUV400 EL with a 39.4 kWh battery and XUV400 EC with a 34.5
kWh battery - and Five colour options - Arctic Blue, Everest White,
Galaxy Grey, Napoli Black, and Infinity Blue with a dual-tone option of Satin
Copper.
The eXUV 400's overall Exterior silhouette
design is similar to that of its petrol counterpart, the XUV 400. There is no
doubt that the EV is based on the same platform as the XUV 400. The concept
vehicle's redesigned front fascia featured a unique closed grille flanked by
futuristic-looking headlights on both ends. However, the eXUV 400's side
profile and rear profile are unmistakably similar to those of its petrol
counterpart. Mahindra may also offer the EV with blue accents, as seen in the
concept model.
The Interior of the eXUV 400 is expected to have the
same appeal as the exterior of the XUV 400. The EV, on the other hand, could
have a larger infotainment screen than the standard model's 7-inch unit. To
accommodate the battery pack, minor changes to the floor panel are expected.
This means that the vehicle's weight will increase; however, the concept
vehicle's ground clearance did not appear to be compromised. Aside from that,
the eXUV 400's overall cabin will not be an evolutionary leap over its petrol counterpart.
The Mahindra XUV400 EL gets a 39.4 kWh lithium-ion
battery pack and is claimed to have a range of 456 km on a
single charge. Its entry-level EC variants have a 34.5 kWh battery
pack and a range of 375 km per charge. The XUV400 is
powered by a single electric motor with 148 bhp and 310 Nm of
peak torque. It has a top speed of 150 kilometres/hr.
The precise technical details are still pending confirmation.
However, Mahindra has stated that the electric SUV will be the first of its
kind to use battery cells created specifically for Indian applications by
Korean battery manufacturer LG Chem. The company and Mahindra have worked
together to create cutting-edge lithium-ion battery technology.
The drive modes on the XUV400 change the steering,
throttle, and regen response. Fun, Fast, and Fearless are
the names of the modes. Mahindra claims that the gamification of driving
behaviours included in the vehicle will make it enjoyable to use the eSUV's
full range. Along with meeting IP67 standards, the battery pack and
motor for the vehicle are also dust- and waterproof.
The all-electric XUV400 will be available for Booking
on January 26th, 2023, with deliveries beginning in March 2023
for the XUV400 EL and during the Diwali festive season for the XUV400
EC. Customers can test drive the vehicle at their local Mahindra
dealership.
34 cities will be covered by the launch's Phase 1: Ahmedabad, Surat,
Jaipur, Mumbai MMR, Nasik, Verna (Goa), Pune, Nagpur, Bangalore, Chennai,
Trivandrum, Cochin, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Delhi NCT, Kolkata, Dehradun,
Coimbatore, Aurangabad, Bhubaneshwar, Kolhapur, Mysore, Mangalore, Vadodara,
