The BMW iX xDrive 40 generates a maximum torque of 630Nm and 326 horsepower. According to BMW, the xDrive 40 has a top speed of 200 kph and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in 6.1 seconds. The xDrive 40 is equipped with two electric motors, one on each axle, providing all-wheel drive. Depending on the driving situation, the AWD controller distributes torque between the front and rear axles.
Globally, the iX is also offered in the higher-speculating xDrive 50 model, which generates 523 horsepower and 765 Nm of maximum torque and has a WLTP cycle driving range of up to 611 kilometers. According to BMW, the iX can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds.
Front and rear roll axles, a rigidly mounted steering column, double-wishbone front suspension, and individually controlled dampers are all standards on the iX. The iX is built on an upgraded version of BMW's CLAR platform, which is constructed of aluminium and carbon fiber. Interestingly, the majority of the aluminium used in the iX is recycled.

The iNext Concept from 2018 provided the first look at the BMW iX's appearance. The plastic on the grille is also self-healing. A quartet of light bands have been added to the upper portion of the slim headlamp assemblies of the iX in place of BMW's customary corona light graphic. The iX is about the same size as a BMW X5, but its interior is more like an X7 because of its electric architecture, which frees up space around the front center console and makes it possible for a flat floor. Natural materials are used in the iX's upholstery, and some interior trims are made of recycled plastic.
