Hero Lectro Electric Bicycles want to alter the standard daily commute. Rechargeable batteries, which can be charged with a power plug, are used in electric pedal-assisted bicycles. These cycles have many different designs and are suitable for users of all ages. Recently, Hero Lectro updated every model in their line of electric bicycles. We had the chance to test-ride the new Hero Lectro C5 27.5, and this is what we thought.
FRAME, FIT AND COMFORT
A complete Alloy frame supports the construction of the Hero Lectro C5 27.5. Due to the battery and motor, electric bicycles are typically thought of as being heavy; however, the use of alloy as the frame material helped keep the overall weight under control. Standard frame geometry and a slanted top tube were present. This shape aided in maintaining an upright posture, which was ideal for commutes and leisurely rides. The stiff fork had an aerodynamic design with blades. Whilst some might argue that a suspension is essential for urban roads this frame’s Alloy helped absorb most vibrations of the surface and in turn gave the rider a smooth ride experience.
DESIGN
The Hero Lectro C5 27.5 had a full Dark Blue main colour on the frame and a lighter Blue secondary colour used for the artwork. The paint job had a flawless finish and a high-quality gloss finish. The E-Bicycle was made to appear like a regular bicycle by hiding the battery under the bottom tube, which also helped to keep the frame looking tidy and shield the battery from outside dust.
GEARING
The drivetrain of this electric bicycle has a single speed. An electric bicycle does not necessarily need gears because the battery will outweigh the gears. There won't be a need for gears for quick commutes, and this Single-Speed powertrain is also simple to maintain. The weight of the E-Bicycle is also slightly reduced by the absence of gearing components.
BATTERY AND MOTOR
The Hero Lectro C5 27.5 Electric Bicycle works on a rear hub BLDC 36V,250W 40Nm rear hub motor. A 36 Volt, 5.8Ah Lithium-Ion battery powers this motor. The right-hand throttle on this e-bike was simple to use and added to its enjoyment aspect. Three levels of power assistance from the battery are provided for each pedal by the three-level pedal-assist system, referred to as Low, Medium, and High. In order to make walking with the E-Bicycle simple, there is also a walk mode. The On/Off button, Assist level selector, Walk mode switch, and Battery level indication are all located on the left side of the handlebar's LED button display.
To prevent rain and water from seeping in, the LED button display comes with a white, thick sleeve that is semi-transparent. 25 km/hr is the top speed possible when using battery power. As a safety measure, there is a button adjacent to the right-hand side gip accelerator which may be used to switch on and switch off the accelerator function.
With 1 full charge, this Battery is capable of giving 30kms in Pedal Assist mode and 22-25kms in throttle mode. Because of the various riding circumstances and the weight of the rider, these mileages may vary slightly. With any typical Indian plug, this battery charges from 0% to 100% in 4 hours. Above the bottom bracket on the left side of the frame is where the battery charging port is located. The bicycle must be close to a charging point because the battery is not removable, which is a minor drawback to this charging technique.
BRAKES AND STEERING
The addition of a mechanical disc brake at the rear of the C5 is one of the improvements over the previous model. The front and rear mechanical disc brakes with the Clarke brand were sufficiently strong to bring the electric bicycle to a safe stop at a speed of 20 to 25 kilometres per hour. The brakes' strength is perfect for riding in cities.
WHEELS AND SADDLE
When travelling at 25 km/h, the Hero Lectro C5's 27.5" x 2.0" Spur-branded tyres were nimble on both smooth and bumpy urban roads and were ideal for an electric bicycle. The treads were ideal for providing strong traction on slightly uneven roadways and during quick turns. With an additional layer of padded cushion, the Saddle on the recently released C5 has undergone a significant upgrade, making it comparable to having an external gel or foam seat cover. One can be guaranteed that there will be no saddle pain while riding the C5.
Conclusion
This alloy frame is easy to ride and lightweight. The E-Bicycles look stylish thanks to the cleverly hidden battery and beautiful, gloss paint treatment. The extra-cushioned saddle, 3-level assist along, and throttle makes riding an electric bike pleasurable and comfortable. On both smooth and bumpy urban roads, the 27.5" x 2.0" tyres moved quickly. Priced at Rs.27,499 (as of 31st July 2021) the Hero Lectro C5 27.5 is a fantastic choice for anyone looking to buy an Electric Bicycle for leisure rides and commutes.
