Okaya EV launches Ferrato Disruptor electric bike at Rs 1.60 lakh with 129km range

Okaya EV, a name synonymous with batteries in India, has set its sights on the electric two-wheeler market with the launch of its premium sub-brand Ferrato. The company's debut offering under this brand is the Ferrato Disruptor, an electric motorcycle with a focus on performance and everyday usability.

Priced at Rs 1.60 lakh (ex-showroom), the Disruptor is positioned as a premium electric bike. Pre-bookings are now open on the company's website, with a special Rs 500 booking amount for the initial 1000 customers. Deliveries are expected to commence around August 2024.

Power, Performance, and Range

The Ferrato Disruptor boasts a mid-mounted permanent magnet motor with a peak power output of 6.37 kW. This translates to a claimed top speed of 95 kmph, which should be sufficient for zipping around city streets. Okaya also highlights a strong acceleration for the Disruptor, thanks to its 228 Nm torque figure.

Riders can choose from three ride modes - Eco, City, and Sports - depending on their preference for efficiency or performance. Eco mode would be ideal for maximizing range, while Sports mode unleashes the full potential of the motor. The Disruptor also features a reverse assist mode for easy manoeuvring in tight spots.

Powering the Disruptor is a 4 kWh LFP battery, offering a claimed range of 129 km on a single charge. This range makes the Disruptor suitable for daily commutes within the city. The battery can be fully charged in five hours, making it convenient for overnight charging at home.

Design and Additional Features

The Okaya Ferrato Disruptor comes with a full-faired design, offering a sleek and sporty look. Telescopic forks at the front and a mono-shock at the rear handle suspension duties. Disc brakes are equipped on both wheels, although the Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) is missing, which some riders might consider a drawback.

Okaya is offering a 3-year/30,000 km warranty on the Ferrato Disruptor, including the battery. The company also claims a running cost of just 25 paise per kilometer, making the Disruptor an economical choice in the long run.

A New Player in the E-Bike Arena

With the Ferrato Disruptor, Okaya EV enters the competitive electric two-wheeler market in India. The Disruptor takes on established players like Revolt RV400 and Tork Kratos R, offering a feature-rich package at a competitive price point. Whether the Disruptor can disrupt the market remains to be seen, but it certainly has the potential to be a strong contender in the premium electric motorcycle segment.

Anshul Gupta, Managing Director of Okaya EV, spoke about the launch, saying,

“We are excited to introduce the Disruptor, under the banner of Ferrato, to Indian bike enthusiasts who are eager to experience the power of EVs. With its groundbreaking technology, exhilarating performance, and sporty design, the Disruptor aligns perfectly with changing the landscape of the road to lead the way in providing innovative and sustainable mobility solutions.
