Tata Motors has recently announced
its partnership with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the
2023 edition of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL), with the Tata Tiago EV
serving as the Official Partner. This collaboration aims to raise awareness for
electric vehicles and promote the Tiago EV as a premium 5-seater electric
hatchback with a price range of 8.49 lakhs -13.64 lakhs.
In this article, we will discuss
how this partnership will work and its potential impact on promoting electric
mobility in India.
During the IPL tournament, the
Tiago EV will be displayed at all 12 stadiums, providing the perfect
opportunity to showcase the vehicle to a vast audience. Tata Motors will use
the IPL platform to engage with customers through various exciting activities,
such as the ‘100 reasons to go.ev with Tiago.ev' campaign developed by FCB
Ulka, a Mumbai-based advertising company.
The campaign aims to address
consumers’ top mental barriers towards EV adoption and debunk common myths
surrounding electric vehicles, positioning the Tiago EV as a simple and easy switch
to superior mobility. Tata Motors intends to educate the masses on EVs at
large, highlighting their importance not only in urban areas but also in
smaller towns.

such as Nexon, Harrier, Altroz, Safari, and Punch. However, this year marks the
first time the company will be showcasing an electric vehicle, demonstrating
its commitment to a new era of green mobility in the country.
According to Mr. Vivek Srivatsa,
Head of Marketing, Sales, and Service Strategy at Tata Passenger Electric
Mobility Ltd, "With this exciting new product, we want to democratize EVs
in India. This association with India's biggest media property will help us
highlight the importance of EVs, not only in urban India but in smaller towns
as well. We wish to drive tremendous value from this partnership and fast
forward the ongoing revolution towards the future of mobility by encouraging
rapid adoption of EVs in India."
Tata Tiago EV will also feature
the Electric Striker Award during the matches, where the player with the
highest strike rate of the match will receive a cash prize of INR 1,00,000 and
the trophy. The Tiago EV Electric Striker of the Season will also have the
opportunity to drive home a brand new Tata Tiago EV.
Tata Motors is not limiting its
contribution to IPL but will also be enhancing the biodiversity of Coffee
Plantations in Karnataka by planting saplings every time the ball hits the
Tiago EV car on display. The company has raised a fund of INR 5,00,000 to
donate towards this initiative, showcasing its commitment to sustainability.
Tata Motors plans to reward early
adopters of EVs by offering them tickets to select matches. Tata EV owners will
also have the chance to engage in on-ground activities, and a few lucky owners
will have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of presenting awards to some of
the world's finest cricketers.
